Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls! My Image
I see myself in a hard, long race, but the sidelines are lined with those who went before us cheering and encouraging me to finish strong. It is their encouragement that helps me finish and not only that. It finish well. I remember my marathon.
My Invitation
My invitation is to listen to those encouraging me along my race and to be an encourager to others as they compete in their own race.
How are you at accepting encouragement along your journey? I know there are times when I ignore it or don’t give it a second thought. Remember, God has put those encourages in your path to cheer you on so that you can finish strong.
At the same time don’t forget to be an encourager to those people God has placed in your path.
